Sheryl Andrews is named CSBG Liaison for the NC Community Action Association

The North Carolina Community Action Association (NCCAA) is thrilled to welcome Sheryl Andrews to our team as the new Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Liaison.

Sheryl brings over 30 years of experience in Community Action, having held various roles, including Intake/Eligibility Specialist for Employment and Training, Youth Programs Coordinator, and CSBG Director.

Her journey in Community Action began with a summer job at a local Community Action Agency (CAA), which evolved into a lifelong career. Passionate about supporting individuals and families, Sheryl has had the privilege of learning from experienced mentors and leaders within the Community Action network.

From her early days as an Intake/Eligibility Specialist to her advancement as a Youth Programs Coordinator and, ultimately, a CSBG Director, she has remained a steadfast advocate for empowering communities.

“The most soul-stirring aspect of my journey has been making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families—offering support from a place of genuine care and witnessing firsthand the unstoppable transformative power of Community Action,” Sheryl said.

Now, as CSBG Liaison, Sheryl is excited to continue this important work. She brings a wealth of institutional knowledge, experience, and a deep appreciation for Community Action’s role throughout North Carolina.

“So far, my favorite part of this position has been connecting with colleagues across the state and helping to link them with valuable training, resources, and support,” she said. “I’m excited to continue growing in this position and contributing to NCCAA’s important mission.”

Outside of work, Sheryl enjoys immersing herself in biographies and history books or indulging in true crime documentaries. She cherishes her close-knit family relationships and has recently adopted four kittens, that keep her home life lively!

A fan of old-school rock and R&B, she humbly admits to being “rhythm-challenged” but still loves dancing and having fun. And when it comes to sports, there’s no question—she’s a die-hard Tar Heels fan!

We are incredibly fortunate to have Sheryl on our team. Please join us in welcoming her to NCCAA—we know she will do great things!

To contact Sheryl, email Sheryl.Andrews@nccaa.net or call the NCCAA office in Raleigh, 919-790-5757.
