“Destiny” is a single senior citizen living in Cleveland county. She invested all of her savings into purchasing her dream retirement home. Shortly after moving in, the HVAC caught on fire, and the people she purchased the home from refused to help. She was totally devasted and didn’t know what she could do. A friend advised her to call 211, and through that referral was able to locate our agency who leveraged the Healthy Home Initiative funding to completely weatherize her home and replace the defective HVAC unit. Destiny says that she now has a safe and energy-efficient home. Her monthly energy bill is reduced to $60 and has provided her enough funds to dig a little pond in her back yard and build a small fire pit. She is so happy and stated that she’d like to write everyone a note of thanks, but suffering from Parkinson’s Disease, no one would be able to read her writing.
